Johannes Reinhardt Family

     Johannes Reinhardt, Brickmason, born 21 May, 1711-1715, Unterhausen, Lichtenstein 72805, Landkreis Reutlingen, Baden Wuerttemberg, Germany, was a son of Matthaus Reinhardt, born 1681, and Agness Knaur of Unterhausen. Johannes married on 18 Nov 1734 in Evang Unterhausen, Agnes Staiger, born 6 Feb 1710, daughter of Hans Jerg Staiger, born Jan 1666, and Ursula Zanger, born 21 Mar 1674.  Agness Staiger's paternal and maternal grandparets were, respectively, Hans Jacob Staiger and Elizabetha Sauter and Matthaus Zanger and Barbara Bley.  Johannes Reinhardt, as John Reynard, arrived SC in 1752 with wife and two children, Elizabeth 9, and Mathias 4, coming on the Caledonia.

   Johannes Reinhardt, as John Rheynard, obtained a 200 acre bounty survey on Cannons Creek, near Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pomaria, S.C. This grant was sold by grantee in 1762 to John Kennet (John Kinard, Sr.) (Memorials 6-21).  In the same year John Rinehart purchased the 200 acre bounty grant of John Michael Gadringer on Crims Creek.  This tract was passed down from John Rinehart to son, Matthias Rinehart (Lagrone to Kibler, Newberry DeedsI-199).

V. Maria Elizabetha  Reinhardt, born 24 Nov 1743, Unterhausen, died after 1752, South Carolina.

VI. Johannes Reinhardt, born 31 Oct 1746, Unterhausen, died 13 Aug 1747, Germany.

VII. Matthaeus Reinhardt, born 3 Jul 1748, Unterhausen, died 1808, SC, married in SC, Anna Margaretha LeGrande, born 31 Jul 1750, in Schoenau, Germany, died after 1815, daughter of Tobias Lagrone and Johanna Elisabetha Hoffmann (see The Lawrence Lagrone Family Bio).  In 1789, Mathias Rinehart and wife, Margaret (Lagrone) Rinehart, sold her 100 acre grant on waters of Camping Creek to Benjamin Hollinshead (Newberry Deeds E-424).

    C. Matthias Rinehart, Jr., born about 1773, died about 1854, Catahoula Parish, LA, married ___ Young, died after 1840. Moved to Barnwell District, SC, later to Catahoula Parish, LA.

      1. Rebecca Rhinehart, born about 1797, died about 1824, Catahoula Parish, LA, married (as first wife, Henry Hair, born 3 December 1796, died 17 August1881, son of Peter Hair, Jr., and wife, Angeline.

      2. Jacob Rhinehart, born about 1799, died 1843.

      3. Mary Rhinehart, born about 1801, died about 1832, married (as secondwife) Henry Hair, born 3 December 1796, died 17 August 1881, son of Peter Hair, Jr., and wife, Angeline.

     D. John Rinehart, Sr., born 1774, died 12 July 1829, married 1) Gertraud Quattlebaum, daughter of  Matthias Quattlebaum and wife, Rachel Deren, by whom all his children were born; married 2) Elizabeth Chapman Kinard born 4 June 1775 died 14 March 1858, daughter of Abraham Chapman and widow of Frederick Kinard, Sr.   Elizabeth Chapman Kinard Rinehart married 2) John Wise.

   The family of John Rinehart moved to Edgefield District (Saluda County), SC. John Rinehart was a Methodist and was principal founder in 1813 of Nazareth Methodist Church. His second wife remained Lutheran and is buried at St.Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Saluda County, SC.

John Rinehart, Jr., born April 1798, died 25 February 1855, married January 1818, Sarah Kinard, daughter of  Frederick Kinard, Sr. and Catherine Chapman, born 26 July 1804, died 3 August 1884. They are buried  in theRinehart Family Cemetery, Saluda County, SC.  John Rinehart, Jr. was a lawyer and farmer and built "The Rinehart Mills" later known as "The Hare Mills".  The Rinehart Place was later owned by James Hare.

      2. Abraham/Abram Rinehart, born about 1805, died 20 January 1880, marriedMary Catherine Shealy, died 1855, daughter of Matthias Shealy and wife, Margaret.  They moved to Talladega County, AL and between 1855 and 1860 moved to Perry County, AL. (information source: DRowe85608@aol.com)

      3. Rebecca Rinehart, born 1810, died 6 January 1903, married Charles (Charlie) G. Duncan, born 3 November 1804, died 21 January 1880. Buried Providence Methodist Church Cemetery, Batesburg, SC.

     E. Barbara Rinehart, died 1850, married John Koon, died 1848, son of  GeorgeAdam Koon, Sr.  In 1835, John Koon sold parts of land he bought from the estate of Matthias Rinehart on Crims Creek to David, Samuel, and Jacob Koon (Newberry Deeds R-404, S-126, and AA-11). The will of John Koon left the homeplace on Crims Creek to wife, Barbara, during her lifetime,then to son Ephraim Koon.

       1. David Koon, born about August 1800, died December 1853, married 1) Elizabeth Kibler, born 1 January 1813, died 11 January 1844; married 2) Margaret Kiber, born 1 January 1818, died 20 October 1888, daughters of Michael Kibler, Sr. and Mary Kinard. All three buried Glymph-Koon Cemetery.

      2. Christina Koon, born 16 September 1801, died 23 February 1884, married 1)Michael Charles; married 2) John F. Prisock, born 8 October 1819, died 26 January 1896. Moved to Union County, SC.

      3. Jacob Koon, born about 1815, married 1) Rachel Caroline Koon, daughter of Abraham Koon and wife, Catherine; married 2) Susannah Elizabeth Farr.

      4. Samuel Koon, died 1843.

      5. Elizabeth Koon, born about 1812, died 26 January 1884, married 23 August 1849, Peter Suber, born 8 October 1819, died 2 September 1881, son of Conrad Suber and Polly Felker.

      6. William Ephraim Koon, born 24 February 1817, died 20 October 1853 ,married Susannah Dickert, born 19 September 1820, died 5 February 1906, daughter of John Jacob Dickert and Christina Riser. Moved to TX.

      7. Happy Caroline Koon, born about 1825, married Oliver Perry Fulmer.

     F. Adam Rinehart, born about 1783, married Elizabeth (Lizzie) Riser, born about 1788, died after 1860, daughter of  Martin Riser, Sr. and Christena Sease.  Adam Rinehart bought land in 1808 from his father (Newberry Deeds I-412) and bought land from his mother in 1815 (Newberry Deeds L-59). His family moved before 1830 to Bibb County, AL and before 1840 to Talladega County, AL. Later moved to Union County, AR.
