QUERIES

I visited your web site today and was hoping you may be able to help
me break through a brick wall I've had for many years.

My wife is a direct descendent of John W. and Rosa Conner. They lived
in Lexington County in the late 1800's and early 1900's. John Conner
is buried in Melrose Cemetery in Swansea.  Rosa (aka Rosanna) was his
wife when he passed away on 13 Jun 1901. Her last name was given to
me by a family member, but I've never been able to find any history of
her prior to the 1880 Census.  She married John about 1869.  I've
included the information I have. You can see, it is not very
complete.

Looking for information on John Weed b 1742 in Derby, New Haven Co., CT.
He was a son of Samuel and Sarah Richardson Weed and brother to
Reuben Weed who came to SC from NY with his wife and family.
Did John Weed come to SC with his brother, Reuben? Did he come
after or before? John Weed moved from Derby CT to New Britain NY before
he came to SC. Why does he show on a petition of a German Lutheran
Church?
Any leads would be appreciated.

Dear Sir/Ma'am:

I found your website today. I have an interest in the Shaffer/Schafer/Scheaffer name that arrived in the US in the later 1700 early 1800. William Shaffer ended up in South Carolina in the early 1800s but I have not been able to find out where he came from prior to SC. I would imagine that they came from Pennsylvania and then Europe but this is simply a guess. In one of the census records is indicates that William came from Prussia. William was supposed to have married a 'Jane,' but we have no further information on her.

On of the first Shaffers (John) was supposed to have married Hepsibiah Elizabeth Strother (dated unknown) and then move south toward Mississippi and eventually Louisiana. John's son William arrived in Louisiana in the 1830s and we have a significant amount of information from this point forward in time. William's (II) tombstone in Louisiana states he was born in Fairfield, SC. Our oral history states that William returned to South Carolina later in his life and visited his relatives graves sites at the Strother Cemetery (very clsoe to the Dutch Fork).

Now to my questions: I see you have a great deal of information on a Fredrick Shaffer, would you have any information on a John or William Shaffer? Would you have any information on the cemeteries in Dutch Fork and specifically the cemeteries in Strother SC? Any other thoughts with regard to your resources and my research direction.

Thanks for the help
